10-12-16 Sarah Kremple's Graphic Novel Genre

Copper by Kazu Kibuishi

When I went to the library, this was the genre I had the most difficulty finding something I liked. It took everything in me to not just grab a Garfield book and call it a day. I saw this book, flipped through a few pages, and was instantly drawn into the fun illustrations and “old married couple” banter that Copper and his dog have in the book.
Copper, is a sweet, young and hopeful boy who is always up for an adventure and airs on the side of positivity. His dog, on the other hand, has a different attitude and is constantly warning Copper about taking risks. They go back and forth, discussing life’s big questions and wading through some hardships and successes in their lives. It is a collection of short stories with different themes and makes you want to read the next page, and the next page, and the next page.

  1. Thanks for the Graphic Novel Recommendation! My students are super into graphic novels and this looks right up their ally.
