The Life of Ty by Lauren Myracle
Ty is a simple 7 year old kid, whose problems are typical. He has 2 older sisters and a younger one and he struggles being the only male voice in the house. He has a fun school project called “non-random acts of kindness” that he must complete and present to his class by the end of the week. He is trying to find something nice to do for someone, which is harder that he thought. This is an easy read and very relatable because it is full of mundane things that children go through every day, like having to sit in the back seat of the car because you are the youngest, or questioning why your teacher is teaching a certain lesson. This would be a good read aloud book or just an easy read for any student.

This sounds like a fun read, Sarah. I appreciate those books that encourage young readers to embrace the everyday. A slower pace can be so good for kids. If you like this, you might enjoy the Monty series, which centers around a first grader. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for the review. I could see myself using this book at school especially with young readers. It seems that there are many important topics that can be addressed and discussed (like growing up), maturity, life, etc. Thank you for sharing this title.

DeleteSarah do you think third graders would enjoy this book? I really liked the themes of "nonrandom acts of kindness" and the characters questioning that you spotlight in your review. Paula
