Thalassa Papakonstantis - other - Macbeth, By William Shakespeare

Most teenagers will wince when passed out their copy of a Shakespeare play. I especially remember as a sophomore in high school, taking Macbeth home a trying to decipher the language and failing. This intense story of betrayal and legacy is so bloody and action packed, but in our modern times this doesn't come across easily. It is when we next met in class, and were each assigned roles from teh play, that the story came to life. Once the rhythm of Shakespeare's words become more familiar, the beauty of the meaning comes through. In his play are fathers, sons, daughters, and lovers, all trying to get through and feel understood. The goriness and the life lessons that stem from them make for wonderful discussions in any classroom.
