Thalassa Papakonstantis – Non-fiction – The Brain Pack, by Meer & Dudink
(Adult ESL learners)

This interactive book, a pop-up book, as we are used to calling them, is as entertaining as it is informative. For adult English language learners, The Brain Pack is both a visual and a mental adventure. There is a slight old-fashioned feel to the pictures and even some of the language, though it was published in the mid-nineties. The book stands up overtime for its sincere intent, to make the brain fascinating. There is a page dedicated to sexuality, which makes this book more appropriate for older kids, and adults, per our school standards. The Brain Pack includes three dimensional models of our brains, interactive charts about human emotions, the senses, and intelligence, and quizzes. When it comes to adult English language learners, this book is suitable for mid-level readers and speakers. And for those is lower level reading, it’s a great book for connecting the visual and tactile with the words they do know, and It would be a great motivational tool!
