Sarah Kremple, EDRL 524- Say Goodnight Gracie

Say Goodnight Gracie by Julie Reece Deaver

This is a fantastic Young Adult book that has everything you want in a short novel: romance, comedy, hardships, emotions and relatability.

Jimmy was killed by a drunk driver and his best friend Morgan is forced to deal with life without him. It chronicles the events that lead up to the accident by exploring their love of theater and eating together. They were friends, nothing more, but soon Morgan realizes that Jimmy is much more than a friend, he is her soul mate. After the accident, Morgan is left with a dismal future where she can’t get out of bed and has no desire to go to school. Her aunt, who is a doctor, helps her cope with her life without Jimmy.

This story is great for students who have lost someone and are trying to deal with moving on. It is also a story about friendship and relying on loved ones around you. A heartfelt book that is hard to put down.
