Young Reader Book Review

City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau

There is nothing scarier than knowing your city is dying. In this riveting young reader book, Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow are stuck with the task of saving their perishing underground city from complete darkness. Throughout their journey they find clues that there is life above ground and hope somewhere close where a whole new world awaits them. This book is full of twists and turns along with fun plot lines and great characters.

Doon, a young and stubborn boy coming into manhood and his beloved friend Lina, a fast and smart girl who is daring and curious make the perfect duo to keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a great read aloud to students or an easy read on your own.

The best of the 4 book series will capture your sense of adventure and keep you guessing where Lina and Doon will go next. The only question I had for this book, is why only 4 in the series?
