Apple Pie ABC Book

Apple Pie by Gennady Spirin is based on an Old English poem from the 1600's which follows the arrival of an enormous apple pie in an English village. Spirin is an illustrator of immense talent who sets this ABC book in Victorian England with captivating detail and hidden pictures.  A, of course, is for apple pie and all the letters that follow are identified by verbs, as in "B - bit it", "C - cut it," and so on.  It's a very unusual approach for the genre of ABC books which often focuses only on nouns.
