Once Upon a Fairy Tale

This book is really cool. It is a presentation by famous artists and individuals as a benefit for The Starbright Foundation. An important feature is that it includes a CD with the recordings of the famous people reading their pieces, while in the book there is a corresponding picture of the character by one of the famous artists. It includes four fairy tales, "The Frog Prince", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", and "Rumplestiltskin"; each of the stories is told from a personal perspective of a character in the story. For example, in "Goldilocks", Calista Flockhart takes a starring role by breaking into the Bear house looking for a phone. Ted E. "Papa" Bear is a grizzly softy played by Gen. H. Norman. Schwarzkopf (illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg.) Cosentina Molly "Mama" Bear is a sweet, cello-playing lady, done daintily by Whoopi Goldberg. My favorite of the story is Owen "Baby" Bear ( funnyman Conan O'Brien, depicted by David Shannon) who is upset because his "cream rivers, butter houses, and sugar mountains" have been gobbled up. He becomes excited when he realizes he gets pizza later!
Check out Mike Meyers' Rumplestiltskin and Robin Williams as Wolf von Big Baden. You and the kids will roar at this one. (A really great book to use with work on perspective in the classroom.)
