What Puppies Teach Us (Informational Text) by Adriana Rodriguez

What Puppies Teach Us is a fantastic book written by Glenn Dromgoole. This book teaches one about  important and essential lifelong lessons and about kindness, which is foundational, especially in times like the ones we are living today with a lot of negative/hateful speech and actions. Furthermore, I read this book to my 5th grade class, but it is really a book for kids and students of all ages. Some of my favorite life lessons from What Puppies Teach Us were the following, .
Another important lesson is apologizing when one is wrong and has made a mistake and has hurt someone emotionally and/or physically/accidentally as with the following example.
.

Also listening to others when they talk to you and/or need someone to confide in.

Overall this is an excellent book for all to read. After I finished reading this book to my class I did a little activity were I asked them what life lessons resonated with them. They were able to explain why they chose certain life lessons it and why they are important and it can be followed by a mini-writing activity if a teacher wanted to create an extension of the lesson. Overall, this is a must read for all!

  1. This looks like such a sweet book and perfect across the ages. I teach Pre-K and K and from what I can see it is a wonderful representation of human feelings and emotions through the eyes and world of puppies. The pictures are so beautiful and also representative of the emotions being discussed. Social and emotional development is such a huge part of child development and teaching the children early, and often, is key to helping them understand their own emotions, as well as the emotions of others. And what a great way to teach it, through cute and cuddly puppies - for who doesn't love puppies?
