Darkstalker (Wings of Fire: Legends #1)

By Tui T. Sutherland
Darkstalker (Wings of Fire: Legends #1) is a prequel to Sutherland's Wings of Fire series. This book explores the origin story of a character with a large influence in the rest of the books, Darkstalker. This book isn't only about Darkstalker but two other dragons as well, Fathom (Seawing) and Clearsight (another Nightwing). We get to know these three dragons well and watch as they fulfill their destinies.

Darkstalker is an excellent fantasy book where Dragons are the main characters. Tui T. Sutherland creates a wold large enough for them to fit in, and does so comfortably. The characters are well developed and the vocabulary is varied and excellent. The characters grow throughout the story and have to make many monumental decisions.

I would recommend this book to an older audience, as there are some rather violent parts (Dragons will be dragons), but this book is awesome. I was worried that it would not live up to the expectations set by the first part of the Wings of Fire series, but it does. To be totally honest, when I first picked up the first book in the series The Dragonet Prophecy I was hesitant to read it. I was worried that the neat art on the front would be spoiled by lousy writing... but that was not the case! Sutherland spends time creating strong characters and world building and has created quite an intense following. I would highly recommend these books!
