In J.K Rowling's creative fantasy novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, it brings to life another world that pulls you into another time. Not only is this book fabulous for Young Adults, but it can be read by and to anyone under the ages of 18. If you are a reader that enjoys slipping into another world and seeing the pages come to life, J.K Rowling does an astounding job of taking Hogwarts, the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and developing a magical place that becomes desirable. This thick yet pleasurable read takes you through the young Harry Potter's life journey and makes you feel as if you are growing up with him throughout the text. Not only do you see Harry Potter grow as a student, but as an individual, socially, and mentally. As this child starts out with a mediocre life, he ends up being sent to another world where magic exists. The constant challenges Harry faces brings a connection to readers leaving them with empathy and a common understanding of hardships. Throughout the novel there are many triumphs too. Harry expresses love, compassion, taking the higher road, and much more not only on a personal level but within relationships he creates with friends, teachers and fellow students.
The Harry Potter novel portrays a lot of elements that are identifiable and create a parallel to reality. This novel may not be desirable by those who enjoy non-fiction, but if the reader is willing to give it a go, they may find themselves lost in this brilliant novel by J.K. Rowling.
