Where the Wild Things Are - Maurice Sendak
This wonderful fantasy book is beautifully written and illustrated and is a classic children's book. It is about little boy, Max, who puts on his wolf costume and gets into some trouble with his mom, who calls him a "wild thing" and sense him to bed without dinner. That night, Max's room transforms into a forrest and he sails away to spend an adventurous evening with the Wild Things that live there. He has fun being among the Wild Things, but eventually becomes lonely and decides to return home, where he finds his dinner waiting for him.
This book is great for children around 3-8 years old, but I do think children of all ages will enjoy the story and pictures. Every child can relate to getting in trouble with mother and missing home. Max's adventure is fun, exciting, and imaginative and brings the reader into a whole new world of where the wild things live.
