Quick as a Cricket

Quick as a Cricket
Audrey and Don Wood

A personal childhood favorite that I often share with my offspring, Quick as a Cricket is a lulling and beautiful story for young children. The book is made of similes (great teaching tool!) of how one child has characteristics of so many different animals. For example sometimes "I am as loud as a lion" but on the very next page the same boy is "as quiet as a clam". The book goes on riddled with beautiful similes, adjectives, opposites and illustrations. The story's readability makes it a young reader book, but I think it would serve a great purpose in upper elementary teaching similes or younger grades teaching self descriptive adjectives. Please check it out and love it as I always have.
