Flotsam, by David Wiesner is a beautiful wordless picture book that tells the story of of a young boy's day at the beach. He finds an underwater camera that is washed up on shore and develops the film. The photos show a fanciful underwater world! One photo is a picture of the last person who had the camera holding a similar photo in her hands. When the boy uses his microscope to zoom in, he practically travels back in time to all the other children that have found the underwater camera. He takes his own photo of himself holding the picture and then the camera is sent on it's way once again.
This wordless picture book is a delight for the eyes and imagination! Even though there are no words, this book would be perfect for upper elementary and even middle school.
